Client Objective:
SDS Technology approached Business Logic to provide them with the technical expertise to create an online vehicle tracking system that would take input from a remote unit sending data via GPRS to a server. In addition SDS Technology needed advice on the create of firmware for the unit and the firmware update procedure.
Business Logic's Solution:
Business Logic created a online service that received and managed communications from the hardware tracking unit, an update procedure for the firmware on the unit and relevant advice and technical expertise on the constuction of communication protocols between the unit and the online system.
We also adviced sourced and setup the relevant infrastructure to support the system, including load balancing, database mirroring, server setup and clustering. We also provided service monitoring and testing procedures for checking uptime, reliability, scaleability and robustness.
We developed an online tracking application that allow secure access to customers to view their vehicles and other asset geo locations in realtime on a multitude of mapping services. We also created a reporting system and administration system for customers to manage their units.
Business Benefits:
Vermillion MVT is now one of the UK's leading fleet management systems and has more than a thousand units using their system, which equates to approx 3 million GPS positions sent to the server daily. The business now employees 5 people, with Enterprice PLC as a major customer and with expansion planned in the future,
